Design process
This is what I started with.....a drawing of a UH1Y
I am not an artist myself, so I scour the internet to find the perfect picture. This one happened to be in my files from Mr. Skidz's old squadron.
The image then gets digitized so that the embroidery machine can read it.
This is the applique version of it. Applique is when you use one fabric and sew it onto another fabric/surface.
I also have a filled design of the UH1Y that will be released soon as well!!

Kickballers supporting American Widow Project
The kickball league that I belong to has adopted "American Widow Project" ( www.americanwidowproject.org ) as our charity of choice for this season.

Hey y'all! Our kickball team (New Kicks on the Block) is raising money this season for one of my favorite non profits, the American Widow Project. I was introduced to the AWP in 2009 when a friend of mine attended a widow retreat. She had a wonderful time and meeting other widows really helped her through a traumatic and difficult time. For the entire month of April I will be donating 10% of all my Instagram sales to AWP.

Organization goal #1
Besides organizing the sewing studio, my biggest organizational goal of 2016 is to finish my UFO'S. What is a UFO you might ask? It's not what you are thinking! They are Unfinished objects. I set lofty goals of 5 personal and 5 business UFO's until I am caught up!

Somewhat of an addiction......
I like most fabric lovers have a TON of fabric. I was starting my 2016 organization project in the sewing studio and I decided to go ahead and purge! I am trying to use only fabric and blanks that I have in stock so as to reduce the amount of items and weight that I have for SWC. (Weight comes into play when we have to move again and the military tells us how much we should have!)

Teacher's gifts.....
Anyone else running far behind in this season of joy?
Yeah me too! I am about to head off to my middle daughter's pre-school for her cookie decorating and Christmas concert. What am I doing at home in the last 30 minutes? Well I am finishing up Christmas gifts for the teachers, isn't that what you would be doing?
I ran into 3 busy moms who were off to do the very same thing. Why do we do that to ourselves as moms?
Will you join me in my journey in 2016 as I take a jump into being a more healthy me? One of the things that I am working towards accomplishing is becoming more organized personally and professionally.

What I'm going to miss....
The last few months have ushered in new changes for our business. We are switching gears and listing all of our pre-made items on the etsy site instead of preparing for new shows here in San Diego.
Why you might ask? Well we are also going through a few changes in our life, Skidz baby #4 will be arriving and Mr. Skidz will be deploying. I know that I will not be able to handle the load here at home and be prepared for local shows. Give us another year or so then watch out as I am very excited about some of the new opportunities here in California!
We are thankful for our loyal fans and customers who are sticking with us during this growing phase!
I am very much going to miss meeting new customers face to face and learning your stories. That has been the favorite part of my "job" this far in our journey.
We are hoping to do 2 small shows. One in October and one in November. Stay tuned for more information on those! In the meantime, please enjoy a 15% discount on your total purchase in our etsy store. News on custom orders
Hi guys!
We are settling into our new home and I am slowly getting my sewing studio to where it needs to be.
We will be reopening for business September 1st. I will be posting a huge amount of stock at discount prices to make room for new products.
We will not be able to take custom orders at this time for a few reasons....
1. We found out we are expecting Skidz kid #4 in February.
2. Mr. Skidz will be deploying before the newest arrives.
I want to spend time with him and our family without the pressure of custom orders that are due. Deployments are notriously hard and we don't want to miss a single minute with him.
I will be introducing a few new products and still sewing pre mades for sale. If I decide that the schedule can handle a few custom orders, I will open it up for first come, first served.

M-Day
Moving Day
It is so hard to believe that our move date is almost upon us! We will be leaving the east coast on June 29th and arriving (we hope) to sunny California around July 7th.
We are currently closed for ALL custom orders and will not be shipping any pre-mades until we are settled in CA.
We are so very thankful for all the clients that have made us a success here in North Carolina. Our sincerest hope is that you remember us when you need a personalized item as we love to ship!
I (Mrs. Skidz) am not anticipating to re-open until after the kids start school. I want to give them some summer that doesn't involve packing/moving/unpacking!
